Constant temperature and humidity control: The test chamber is equipped with a constant temperature and humidity control system, and high-precision temperature and humidity sensors are used to monitor the environmental parameters in the chamber in real time. Heating devices such as U-shaped titanium alloy high-speed heating electric heating tubes heat the air in the chamber, and cooperate with the refrigeration system to achieve precise temperature control; the humidity is controlled by humidification and dehumidification devices to ensure that the test conditions meet the predetermined standards and that the salt spray can evenly cover all surfaces of the sample.

Structural composition

Box: usually made of imported corrosion-resistant and flame-retardant materials, such as PP hard plastic board, etc., with good aging resistance and corrosion resistance, smooth and flat surface, easy to clean. The box cover is generally made of transparent materials, such as reinforced safety glass or transparent plastic, etc., to facilitate observation of the test conditions in the box, and a water-tight design is adopted between the box cover and the box body to prevent salt mist from leaking out.

Salt spray generating device: including spray tower, nozzle, brine tank and other components. The spray tower generally adopts a tower spray design, and the nozzle is made of corrosion-resistant materials such as quartz glass, which can make the sprayed mist small and evenly distributed. The brine tank is used to store brine solution, which is connected to the spray tower through a pipe to provide brine for salt spray generation.

Heating system: The inner tank water tank heating and humidification method is mostly adopted. The heating device is installed at the bottom or side of the water tank to heat up the water in the water tank, and then the air temperature in the box is increased through heat conduction, ensuring that the temperature in the box rises rapidly and is evenly distributed.

Air circulation system: It is composed of fans, air ducts, etc. The fan forces the air in the box to circulate, so that the salt spray and temperature are evenly distributed in the box, avoiding the situation of excessive local salt spray concentration or uneven temperature, and ensuring that the test samples are subjected to uniform and continuous salt spray corrosion.

Control system: It uses a microcomputer controller or a high-precision PID temperature controller to accurately set and control the test parameters such as temperature, humidity, spray time, and intermittent time, and display the temperature, humidity and other data in the box in real time. It also has an alarm function. When the temperature and humidity exceed the set range or other faults occur, the alarm can be issued in time.

Test type

Neutral salt spray test (NSS): It is the most commonly used salt spray test method. The salt solution used is neutral with a pH value between 6.5-7.2. It is mainly used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of metal materials and their protective layers in a neutral salt spray environment.

Acetic acid salt spray test (ASS): Based on the neutral salt spray test, an appropriate amount of acetic acid is added to the salt water to reduce the pH value of the solution to between 3.1-3.3, accelerating the corrosion process, and used to detect the corrosion resistance of metal materials and their protective layers in acidic salt spray environments.

Copper accelerated acetic acid salt spray test (CASS): Based on the acetic acid salt spray test, a certain amount of copper chloride is added to further accelerate the corrosion rate, which can more quickly evaluate the corrosion resistance of metal materials and their protective layers. It is often used to detect the corrosion resistance of decorative chrome plating, nickel plating, etc.
